Contestability period
What Contestability period means
In the first year or two of a policy, insurers examine claims especially carefully and check the application answers against medical records. Honest applications have nothing to fear from this, but it is when non-disclosure is most often uncovered. After the period, claims can still be declined for deliberate misrepresentation, so accuracy at the start is what protects your family.
