Death in service benefit
What Death in service benefit means
Many employers provide death in service cover through a group scheme, typically paying two to four times your salary. It is valuable but tied to the job: leave or are made redundant and it stops. It also may not be enough on its own once a mortgage and children are counted. Treat it as a layer on top of personal cover, not a replacement.
