Medical screening

What Medical screening means

For larger sums assured, older applicants or declared conditions, the insurer may arrange a screening: height, weight, blood pressure, and sometimes blood or urine tests, usually at your home or workplace at the insurer’s expense. It is routine rather than a bad sign. Results feed into underwriting and can occasionally work in your favour by confirming well-controlled readings.
