Writing a policy in trust
What Writing a policy in trust means
Putting a life policy in trust means it belongs to the trust, not to you. On a claim, the trustees can pay your chosen beneficiaries without waiting for probate, often weeks faster, and the money normally sits outside your estate for inheritance tax. Most insurers provide a standard trust form at no cost when you take out the policy, and it is much easier to do at the start than to change later.
